[I'm making an executive decision that this is before all the secret stuff because I need to react to this tea and time is a false and fickle god.
Elan gives a slow blink, but that's really the only sign that he's caught off-guard by this -- Louis has been subtle enough and he has been distracted enough the past days that he does take a moment to look him over anew. And then the teardrop.]
We have more vampire-like people than I thought. [this would be wry if he weren't off-kilter] This is... crystallized blood? Or something different?
[i still have to react to the bonding suggestion too so it's fine, time is forever a lie in rp, etc
The seeming lack of reaction isn't all that unexpected from what little he's seen of Elan so far, although it's hard to tell if that's a good sign or not. The vampire comment--okay, well, he can't really deny it so he won't even try with that one, but he can address the question.]
We call them blood beads, but it'd be more accurate to say they're a substitute for human blood. Still, the composition of the contents is essentially the same, so nowadays, most revenants rely on these instead.
[Elan (or anyone else, really) is free to poke at it if he wants, Louis isn't going to stop him unless he's on the verge of making a bloody mess (literal).]
A substitute for human blood that isn't animal blood, but has similar composition.
[He's not actually sure what the hell that means but given what he's experienced so far both of the people and creatures here and the dorm itself -- more explanation might only get more confusing. For the time being, there are probably more important things than what the blood is made of. And where it came from. And whether the Dramaturge will keep their side of this particular deal.
Actually, there are a lot of questions. Still.
He won't outright pick the thing up, but he will turn it over a few times. The consistency and weight of it is strange, but it doesn't seem extremely fragile... probably?]
You're saying that with this, you can control yourself around any other blood in the meantime? How long do you last without it?
[Honestly, more explanation definitely would get more confusing, so absolutely fair of Elan to get straight to the more practical points instead of lingering over the details. As for the blood bead itself, it definitely doesn't seem that fragile--on the contrary, most of it feels quite firm despite the delicate appearance, although not in the frangible glass kind of way. Maybe it's just best to think of it like a little bottle made of hard plastic, or something like that.
There's a nod at the first question. As for the second:]
I can last a few days, but the risk of frenzy increases the longer I go without. The batch I've been given so far is enough to last me a week, but I can ration them to last longer if I need to.
I wouldn't say it's worth it to ration -- that probably increases the risk of something else happening to trigger you, doesn't it?
[Like somebody else getting Night of a Thousand Knives'd for I don't know, picking the wrong rose and then they'll have quite the pickle on their hands. But overall, he's just exploring (worst-case) scenarios, because this is as good a time as any to keep piling on the awkward questions.
It is nice that their dorm seems to trend practical, though. Nobody has screamed or pulled out a cross or anything yet.]
In case you do go into a frenzy, what can be done to stop you?
[Honestly, as far as inquiries go, at least no one's asked if he plans on eating them yet?? Truly that would be the king of awkward questions, everything else that's been asked so far falls into category of being reasonable since they're probably ones Louis himself would ask if he was on the other end.
And as it turns out, the answers to those two questions are semi-related, so that's also convenient.]
If it's caught at an early stage, the symptoms can be suppressed with enough blood beads. Two or three should usually suffice--a revenant's blood begins to turn dark at the onset of frenzy, so any discoloration on their body will recede if the treatment is effective.
But if you don't see any change or the symptoms get worse, focus on protecting yourself. A frenzying revenant becomes one of the Lost--and they can never return to who they were.
