[There's probably a couple of places that Louis needs to go before heading to the dorms at some point, but once he's arrived, there's definitely a moment there where he's clearly doing a bit of a double-take upon seeing who's present. The smell... isn't something he'd prefer to stick around if at all possible, so he keeps a fairly wide berth from Lavi as he leans against the wall next to the door, arms crossed.]
It'll be okay. [ a weak laugh. ] I've been through a lot worse.
[ which lavi knows that doesn't downplay what is going on here and expects that as a response but he's curious about the reaction. it's a totally reasonable reaction—to not want to get close to the sight of someone injured if you're mentally ready for it.
but...hmm. maybe he shouldn't try. his brain might be too fried to think too hard. ]
[Louis isn't really in the business of lecturing people for not taking care of themselves, but considering all the unknowns they're dealing with, it's a pretty reckless move for someone to be leaving a wound untreated.]
Still, we don't know what else might happen here. Best to get yourself patched up in case you wind up in another dangerous situation.
[Not that he thinks people will be eager to take off their rings after that demonstration, but there's supposed to be a murder every week, so there's plenty to be concerned about regardless.]
[sir, this seems like an attempt to steer this conversation away from the topic of first aid??? But it's fine, he'll go along with it for now.]
I can't really fault them when we were looking for answers. Even if we were promised the details another time, I doubt most of us would've been satisfied to just it go.
[After shifting a little to get into a slightly more comfortable position, he looks quite pointedly at where the bite wound is before making eye contact with Lavi.]
At least we have an idea of what to expect, now. It'd be a waste to not make use of the information by preparing ourselves as best we can.
[ this may or may not be correct assessment of what lavi is doing here. thank you for humoring him one way or another. ]
Neither can I. It's not that uncommon for people to get desperate when wanting to get answers that involve life or death. Most people would put up some fight instead of rolling over and letting themselves get killed.
[ he'll notice the moment of pause on his bite but won't say anything just yet. it's still within the realms of understanding of why he'd be wary of it... ]
And, I agree; there's still plenty to learn about the grand scope of things but, at least, we know where the line in the sand has been drawn.
[always happy to help...?! Honestly though, it is good to know that the people here seem to be cool-headed despite everything. It'd be perfectly natural for someone to rage or panic in the face of what they've been thrown into, but having these sorts of discussions reminds him a little of what it was like back home.]
About that--I'm hoping we can all agree to share any information that might contribute to our escape. It probably goes without saying, but I don't think it benefits anyone to try solving this on their own.
[Louis seems content to wallflower once it becomes plenty clear that Dehya has Lavi covered (with Elan's supplies contribution, of course), but there is a nod in her direction at the greeting. When the worst of it is patched up, that's when he deems it okay to move closer.]
Me too. [Not the least because if they're pitted against each other they'll need people they can actually trust. Bracing for a betrayal will undermine them, even if the situation makes that likely.]
What do you think about all this? With the wish and the cost of all that.
You could probably make an argument that taking a life might be a small price to pay. And depending on the nature of the wish, it might even save more people in the long run.
But if we're being condemned for having those desires in the first place, I can't see someone being rewarded for 'proving themselves worthy'. If I had to describe it in a word, it feels like entrapment.
But isn't the real problem that killing someone else means you're not the only one paying the price? Defense is one thing, but this is asking us to make sacrificial goats of each other.
[Her expression twists.] Yeah, this could all be a trap. Well, more of a trap. But we don't have a lot of reason to trust this so-called god. It's just fear of punishment.
You’re right, of course. None of this is to say I agree with that reasoning, but there are always those who find such means acceptable if they can justify it.
[He can see where she’s coming from with the punishment angle, too, although something else comes to mind in addition to that.]
Desperation has a way of forcing people’s hands. Even if the chances are slim, someone who thinks they have enough to gain might be willing to take that gamble.
Yeah... and some people clearly aren't that bothered it in the first place. [Fandaniel.] We'll have to keep each other in check, stop anyone from doing something they'll regret.

You haven't gotten yourself treated?
[dude, why,]

Sounds like it might be too late for that; I'd say that we're already in a bit of a dangerous situation already.
[ not to mention the rest about the partners and rings and father and....yeah. it's Quite The Situation. ]
Being told that people are going to die every week is a bit intense, don't you think? Not even a moment to breath before dropping that on us.

Louis. [He extends a hand to her.] Circumstances aside, it's good to meet you. I hope we can work together to find a way out of this.
